The Votes Have Been Counted

Updated: Nov 19, 2022

Thank you, Sierra Vista!

As of last night, all the votes have been counted, and it’s official! I've been honored by you, the people of Sierra Vista, to serve on the Sierra Vista City Council for a second 4-year term! I could not be more excited or proud to continue representing our great city. With over 8,500 votes, we finished very strong. So, thank you all so much for your support, your votes, and your commitment to Sierra Vista.

Congratulations to William Benning and Mark Rodriguez for winning the other two seats. I look forward to continuing to work with them both in the coming years. I applaud Kevin Weston on a good, honest campaign and respect his dedication to service. I am proud that every name on the ballot for Council ran professional campaigns free of negativity.

I would be remiss not to take a moment now to acknowledge all those who made this possible. This was a long race, and I certainly couldn't have done it alone. There are so many people I want to recognize and thank, starting with my friends and family, for their unwavering support and patience throughout the campaign. They cheered me on the entire time and proudly canvassed by my side. I could not ask for a better support staff!

During my first term, I was incredibly fortunate to work with supportive and knowledgeable mentors who have made a lasting impact on my work as a council member. Especially former Mayor Pro Tem Rachel Gray, whose leadership and confidence in me have helped me become the effective council member I am today. My time on the Council with her and Mayor Mueller has been invaluable, and I will forever be grateful for their guidance and leadership during my first term.

I also want to thank the Herald/Review, the Sierra Vista Area Chamber, CoolFMOnline, CochiseLive, NAACP Greater Huachuca Branch, Huachuca Area Republican Women, Thunder Mountain Republican Women, the 1200 Club of Greater Sierra Vista, Democratic Women of Southeastern Arizona, Southeastern Arizona Contractors Association, Cochise County Democrats, Cochise County Republican Committee, and WeSERV Association of REALTORS® for hosting meet-and-greets, forums, debates, and interviews, all to educate our electorate. I must also give a special shout-out to the Cochise County Poll workers. They really are Election Heroes!

Alas, the most thanks must go to all of you. I feel incredibly privileged to live in a country that allows my neighbors to choose who represents them, and I am honored and proud that you've decided to place your trust and confidence in me. Moving into 2023 and my second term, I am excited to continue working for you and with you. I will continue to work with the same diligence and transparency I have delivered for the last four years, keeping an easily accessible record on my website, carolynumphrey.com. I will continue holding true to a platform that puts our communities' priorities first, prioritizes public safety, promotes economic development, and believes Sierra Vista can be the best city!
