Once again we had an issue that caused the sound from the meeting to cut out through-out the live stream. This is not the first time we've had problems with the broadcasting of our live meetings. It's my understanding that the IT Department will be including new AV equipment in their budget requests submission next month. And I think it's time for council to approve some upgrades in that respect.
The 2nd Open House for the Fry Boulevard Improvement Project will next week, on Wednesday, March 4th at the Sierra Suites Hotel, 391 E. Fry Blvd. The first meeting will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and the second from 5 to 7 p.m. Attendees can drop in at any time during the open houses. After the input is gathered at the open houses, the design concepts will move forward for the City Council’s consideration. Construction is planned to begin in early 2021, with the first phase affecting Fry Boulevard between North Garden Avenue and South Carmichael Avenue. To learn more about this project go to http://sierravistaaz.gov/fryforward.
Yesterday was a super busy day. I attended the State of the State address along with over 200 others from around the community. The Sierra Vista Area Chamber of Commerce did a great job putting it together. I believe this is the first time Governor Ducey gave the State of the State down here in Sierra Vista. If you weren't able to be there, the Chamber shared some videos and photos on their facebook page and the Herald/Review covered it in today's paper. I also had the honor of being a judge for the Youth Engineering and Science (YES) Fair, and what a rewarding experience that was. So thankful to SSVEC for continuing to sponsor this great event from year to year. The YES Fair is free and will be open to the public today until 2:30 p.m. at the Windemere Hotel & Conference Center. The YES Fair Awards Ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. tonight.
As always, please contact me at Carolyn.Umphrey@SierraVistaAZ.gov with any comments or questions. I love hearing from you!
Your council member,
