This past Saturday, September 18th, I had a blast being one of five judges for the signature Men Who Cook for the Sierra Vista Symphony Orchestra! If you never been, it's a fun fundraiser where local, celebrity chefs compete with their favorite culinary offerings. Attendees enjoy food, a silent auction, and of course, live music. The next Men Who Cook will be in March as part of the Symphony's 27th Season schedule. You can find more information at thier website or facebook page.

On Tuesday, September 21st, I attended the ceremony for the official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperative monitoring and management of the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area (SPRNCA) and surrounding areas within Cochise County between the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Gila District, U.S. Army Garrison Fort Huachuca, Cochise County, and the City of Sierra Vista. This was a historic moment for our area and I believe, this MOU is the first of its kind. It affirms the commitments by these four agencies with regards to water and ecological conservation of the San Pedro River and Sierra Vista subwatershed area. We live in a beautiful, unique place and all of us want to keep it that way. You can read the City of SV's official press release on the signing here. On Wednesday, September 22nd, I attended a Mayor/Manager Luncheon. The first we've had in a long time. The City of Sierra Vista was the first to host the lunch for all the Cochise County mayors, councilmembers, supervisors, city officials, and congressional staff for CD2 in attendance. We all had an opportunity to network and share updates on issues and projects in our cities, as well as discuss efforts being made or need to be made to improve our county. I'm thankful Mayor Mueller started up this event and it will once again become a regular meetup, because it's important that our city council touch base every so often with our colleagues across the county. All of us in Cochise County benefit when we communicate our ideas and work together on common goals. I'm looking forward to attending the next one, which will be in Willcox.
