Monthly Recap - February 2023

Updated: Mar 17

New responsibilities in my new role:

SEAGO Strategic Planning in Benson

Earlier this month, Mayor McCaa appointed me to the Southeastern Arizona Governments Organization (SEAGO) Executive Board. I started

my new role by attending their strategic planning sessions with our Community Developer Director, Matt McLachlan.

I was also re-elected to serve another term as the Chair of the Sierra Vista Metropolitan Organization (SVMPO), with Cynthia Buttersworth of Huachuca City Councilmember being re-elected as Vice Chair. Mayor and Council often get asked about the road outside Target and Fry's, State Route 90. During our SVMPO meetings, an Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) representative provides updates for our region. The update we received from ADOT at our last meeting on February 8th was that construction work is anticipated to start in October/November this year. It's scheduled to go out for bid in September as two projects but will be awarded together. The two projects are Border Patrol Checkpoint to Campus Dr and Campus Dr to Moson Rd. I don't know which project will be done first. That decision will ultimately be up to the company awarded to do the work.
